EOS 7D Accessories
There are many accessories for the Canon EOS 7D. The EF-S series of lenses are especially made to work well with this camera. An extra battery or two will come in handy if you plan on long excursions or shooting lots of video. If you're going to shoot a lot of video, you'll probably want extra memory cards as well.

Memory Cards
The Canon EOS 7D uses Compact Flash memory cards only and can take advantage of the fastest cards available (as of April, 2012). Currently, Lexar Professional 1000x Compact Flash cards are the fastest available for the Canon EOS 7D, and Lexar's 600x cards are next fastest. To convert Lexar's "x" nuber to MB/s, multiply by 150 KB/s. So a 1000x equals 150 MB/s, 600x = 900 MB/s. Sandisk rates their cards in MB/s.

The table below compares the speed, burst rate, cost, and cost per GB of the fastest Lexar and Sandisk compact flash cards, using card test data from Rob Galbraith's CF/SD/XQD database and price data from Amazon.com (prices effective 4/14/2012). I've included numbers for older Sandisk cards, even though they may not be available, because some of us may still have some of them in our camera bags. Burst rate refers to how many CR2 + JPEG (Raw files with embedded JPEG) the camera could take in 30 seconds. The burst rate depends on the speed of the camera, the size of the RAW file, plus the capability of the memory card - a slower camera will have lower burst rate using the same card.
If you're shooting HDR panoramas like I do, bird flight photography or any other action photography, you'll need the highest burst rates you can afford. Otherwise, any of the cards listed will be fine.

The size of card to buy depends on how many megapixels each image contains, how many photos you expect to take during a session, and how long you expect to go before uploading your images to a computer. The EOS 7D takes 18 megapixel RAW files, so it will require almost double the memory that would be used by the same number of photos on a 1D Mark III, which takes 10 megapixel images. If you're backpacking or traveling for a few days without access to a PC, you'll need enough memory (and batteries) to last the trip. Action photography, and HDR photography, require more memory because these types of photography generally require lots of images. The table below compares prices of several memory cards, and the cost per GB of each. Generally, I like to have a few cards that are a size in the middle of the pack, so I'm not putting all my images on one card. Currently, I think that 32GB cards are the way to go, even though it's cheaper per GB to buy larger cards. Watch for seasonal price drops to get the best deals, or look for "two packs" that reduce the price per card.
